WHICH WORDS DO I NEED IN SPEAKING?
1) SYNONYMS (=similar meaning)
ex) a diffficult job = a tough job, a challenging job, this job is a tall order
2) ANTONYMS (=opposit meaning)
ex) It was a great film, It was a terrible film, It was an awful film, It was the worst film ever
3) WORD FAMILIES (=same root)
ex) Friend (n.), Friendly (adj.). To befriend (v.), Make friends (v.), Friendship (n.)
4) COLLOCATIONS (= commonly go togather, and meaning is changed)
- Heavy rain, Black tea
5) IDIOMMATIC EXPRESSIONS (= the meaning of the phrase is different from each word in the phrase)
ex) I'm tickled pink = I am very happy
6) PHRASAL VERBS (=common in spoken English) : verb + prep.
ex) To put off = To postpone, To take away = To remove, To cut down on = To reduce
